India vs Bangladesh: 5 of the most memorable ODI encounters

Group-B Match (India vs Bangladesh, WC-2011)

Indian were facing their last-edition nemesis Bangladesh yet again in the World Cup opening game. Batting first, an early miss-judgment resulted in a run-out of none other than Sachin Tendulkar. After that incident, Sehwag went into fifth gear straight away and started smashing the Bangladeshi bowlers all-over the Sher e Bangla Stadium. A very young Virat Kohli then also joined party and started exchanging words with Rubel Hossain. Sehwag went on to hit a mammoth 175 not out off 140 balls which was the highest score by an individual in that World Cup. Later, Kohli notched up his first WC 100 off 83 balls. Both batsmen took India’s total to a humongous 370. In the second innings, Munaf Patel bowled a brilliant spell of 4/48 which dismantled Bangladesh’s batting line-up. Except for Tamim’s 70 and Shakib’s 55, no other batter could put up a meaningful contribution, as Bangladesh lost to India by 87 runs. From there on, India didn’t look back and MS Dhoni’s men went on to win their 2nd ODI World Cup title after a 28 year long wait.
