IPL: Ravindra Jadeja likely to stay back with Chennai Super Kings | New Zealand in India 2016 News
CHENNAI: Ravindra Jadeja’s fall-out with the Chennai Super Kings management was one of the most discussed topics of the last IPL. It’s been six months since and after speculations about the allrounder’s transfer to other franchises, it seems Jadeja will stay back with CSK after all.
Jadeja was miffed after he was unceremoniously removed from captaincy and consequently, he left the team’s camp in Mumbai after he was diagnosed with a rib injury. He deleted all CSK-related posts on his social media accounts which sparked furious speculation.
With November 15, the deadline day of trading approaching, there have been approaches for transfer from other teams, but it seems MS Dhoni is hell-bent about keeping the Saurashtra left-hander with CSK. Even a like-for-like replacement like Axar Patel from Delhi Capitals may not be to Dhoni’s liking, because he believes in the ability of Jadeja.
One understands that the skipper had made it clear to the management that Jadeja cannot be released. He is an extremely crucial member of the team and Dhoni felt Jadeja’s influence cannot be replicated by another player, especially with CSK to play their home games in Chennai.
It is true, though, that Jadeja hadn’t kept touch with the CSK management for a very long time. In between, he had an injury that kept him out of India’s World Cup squad and now he is on a comeback trail.
It will be a fresh start for the 32-yearold after a prolonged absence and the fact that he has a decade-long familiarity with the team may tilt the balance in CSK’s favour.
Jordan, Milne likely to be released
CSK, though, are likely to let two overseas pacemen Chris Jordan and Adam Milne go.
