Moose Wala murder: Accused Goldy Brar detained in California | India News

NEW DELHI: In a major breakthrough in Sidhu Moose Wala murder case, key accused, Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar has been detained in California under the US anti-terror law, according to some TV reports.
Punjabi singer-politician Moose Wala was shot dead while he was traveling in his car in Mansa district of Punjab in May this year. Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar had taken the responsibility for the murder on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang.
Meanwhile, Moose Wala’s father Balkaur Singh, who on Thursday demanded that the Union government announce a reward of Rs 2 crore for any information on the Canada- based gangster, said on Friday he did not believe that the news of Brar’s arrest was true. “Let the authorities come out with some evidence and if the arrest has really happened, it is a biggest relief to me,” he said.
On Thursday, Singh said he was even ready to pay the reward if the government was unable to give it. At an event in Amritsar, Punjab, Singh cited an example of the Australian Police, which had announced a reward of 1 million AUD for the arrest of an Indian-origin citizen who had fled that country after killing a woman four years ago.

More details on the arrest are awaited.
Brar, a native of Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab, is believed to have entered Canada on a student visa in 2017 after which he joined the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
According to a Punjab police spokesperson, a proposal was sent to the CBI for issuing a Red Corner Notice against Brar, paving the path for his extradition to India, on May 19, 2022, barely 10 days before the murder of Moose Wala.
