No question of welcoming back rebels: Gujarat BJP chief | Gujarat Election News

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat BJP president CR Paatil warned on Saturday that there’s no place for indiscipline in the party and rebels harbouring plans for a comeback aren’t welcome. “Even if rebels contesting against BJP-nominated candidates shelter plans of returning to the party fold, they will not be taken,” Paatil said, asserting that none of the renegades will win the ongoing assembly elections.
He said a handful of functionaries quit the party and won local civic polls in 2021. They have not been taken back in the party because “we have adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards indiscipline”. He said: “BJP preserves discipline and keeps the cadre’s morale high.”
Paatil said he toured all the 182 constituencies and persuaded those who did not get tickets to bury their differences and work for the party. Although the polling percentage of the first phase was lower than the corresponding round in 2017, Paatil called it “bumper voting”. He said: “It might appear as if the voting percentage has dropped, but compared to 1.4 crore votes polled in the first phase of 2017, 1.5 crore votes were polled this time. This will benefit BJP candidates.
