Pro-Pak chants in Bharat Jodo, says BJP; Congress cries conspiracy | India News

BHOPAL: A fresh slugfest erupted on Friday between BJP and Congress over Rahul Gandhi‘s Bharat Jodo Yatra after the saffron party tweeted a video alleging that slogans of “Pakistan zindabad” were raised during the march on the third day of its Madhya Pradesh leg. The Congress asserted that the clip was doctored and warned of legal action.
Amit Malviya, the head of BJP’s IT cell, and the party’s state media cell head, Lokendra Parashar, had shared the video. MP BJP president VD Sharma claimed that the video was from the official Twitter handle of Congress (which was deleted later). In the clip, Rahul is seen marching with former chief minister Kamal Nath, with party national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi close behind, when a solitary voice is heard shouting, “Pakistan zindabad”.
At that time, the yatra was reportedly passing through Bhanbarad in Khargone district, which was ravaged by communal violence earlier this year.
Congress responded that it was an attempt to discredit the yarta, the massive public response to which had rattled BJP. “Seeing the immense public support that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is getting, BJP is flustered and released a doctored video to malign the march. We are taking legal action against it,” said Congress leader Jairam Ramesh.
