‘Rozgar Mela’: PM Modi to launch recruitment drive for 10 lakh jobs on October 22

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch ‘Rozgar Mela‘ – a recruitment drive for providing employment to 10 lakh people.
The employment drive will be held on October 22 at 11 am via video conferencing.
During the ceremony, appointment letters will be handed over to 75,000 newly inducted appointees. PM Modi will also address these appointees on the occasion, the PMO said in an official release.
“This will be a significant step forward towards fulfilling the continuous commitment of the Prime Minister to providing job opportunities for the youth and ensuring welfare of citizens,” the release said.
As per the directions of the Prime Minister, all ministries and departments are working towards filling up existing vacancies against sanctioned posts in mission mode, it added.
The new recruits, selected from across the country, will join 38 ministries/departments of the government. The appointees will join the government at various levels viz, Group – A, Group – B (Gazetted), Group – B (Non-Gazetted) and Group – C.
The posts on which appointments are being made include Central Armed Force Personnel, Sub Inspector, Constable, LDC, Steno, PA, Income Tax Inspectors, MTS, among others.
These recruitments are being done in mission mode by ministries and departments either by themselves or through Recruiting agencies such as UPSC, SSC, Railway Recruitment Board. For expeditious recruitment, selection processes have been simplified and made tech enabled.
Earlier in June, PM Modi had reviewed the status of human resources in all central departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the government in mission mode in the next 1.5 years.
As many as 23,584 vacant posts are in Group A (gazetted) category, 26,282 in Group B (gazetted), 92,525 in Group B (non-gazetted), and 8.36 lakh in Group C (non-gazetted).
Defence ministry alone has 39,366 Group B (non-gazetted) and 2.14 lakh Group C posts vacant. Railways has 2.91 lakh Group C posts and MHA has 1.21 lakh Group C (non-gazetted) posts vacant.
