Senior BJP minister Santhosh named Poachgate accused | India News

HYDERABAD: BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh and three others were on Thursday named accused by the Telangana Police in the Poachgate case, taking the number of accused to seven. Santhosh was served a second notice on the high court’s order, asking him to appear for questioning on November 26 or 28.
The purported scandal being investigated by a special investigation team involved triggering defections of four TRS MLAs with big bribes. Three people were earlier named as accused after the scandal surfaced in October.
The SIT filed a memo in the ACB special court, adding Santhosh, Bharath Dharma Jana Sena chief Tushar Vellapally, Kerala doctor Jaggu Kottilil and advocate Bhusarapu Srinivas as accused in the case. The case was registered in Moinabad police station in Cyberabad limits. Key accused Ramachandra Bharathi, K Nanda Kumar and Simhayaji Swamy are currently in judicial custody.
SIT personnel are also planning to send notices under Section 41-A of CrPC to rebel YSR Congress MP K Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, though it’s unclear how the disgruntled legislator is involved in the case. SIT is sending notices under section 41-A to Dr Jaggu’s brother Manilal, three of his personal assistants — Sharath, Prashanth and Vimal — and Prathapan, chief security officer (CSO) of Amrita Hospital, where the doctor was working.
The special probe team has already issued notices to Manilal, the three PAs and CSO under Section 160 (a police officer’s power to require attendance of witnesses) of CrPC, asking them to appear before the investigating officer. Since they failed to appear, SIT decided to issue notices under section 41-A now, sources said.
Sources said the CSO misled SIT sleuths when they went to Kerala recently, saying Dr Jaggu had no links with their hospital. Later, SIT found out the doctor had power to issue cheques and also chaired key meetings in the hospital.
